3/28/2013
So, I am not finished. I went to Challenge different ways. This is an excellent way to learn--self-learning=self-teaching The past few years I learned what a Master teacher friend at SDSD told me: --"You are a visual thinker." Not that I could not read, but sometimes in directional sense, I lost my way. Dyslexia shows in different ways. I just reordered from Amazon, "The gift of dyslexia" Dyslexia is the order of the brain.--that's why I win at cards, Video Lottery Keno.

Why would I learn such about myself at 60+, since I taught myself to type, I became a 'pusher' on computer??

You have a very good set of instructions and I will continue to learn, maybe look at some of the blogs, if I have time. I read a lot online--very time consuming. As a librarian, teacher, I consider myself a tutor--one at a time.

Thanks, Julie.

Week 7 - Check-ins

Recovering a sense of connection is the goal for this week. It's about getting out there and doing something rather than thinking about it or talking about it or planning it. It's also about letting go of that bug-a-boo called perfectionism and the idea that for something we create to be worthwhile, it has to be perfect. In doing that, we deny ourselves permission to experiment and make mistakes - and that can stifle our ability to do anything at all.

Here are some questions to think about this week:

1. How has perfectionism held you back creatively?

2. Did you let yourself experience a sacred place this week? If so, did you learn anything from it?

3. If you did your collage this week, did you sense any patterns?

4. Did you see any patterns in the people who inspire jealousy in you?

A brief list of some new books at the library:

Week 6 - Check-ins

This week we are attempting to gain a sense of abundance - that is, trusting that what we need will be proveded. Many times we have been brought up to believe that work is supposed to be just that - work. It's not supposed to be enjoyable. And anything that is enjoyable couldn't possible be a proper career path. So we force ourselves to choose between doing what we love, and doing a "real job". But does the Universe distinguish between "real" work and the kind that we love to do?

Here are some questions to think about this week:

1. If you believed that the Universe wanted you to be happy, what would that mean?

2. Why do you work?

3. What small luxuries have you allowed yourself to have this week?

4. Did you make an effort to send out some postcards this week? Any responses?

Again, a brief list of some new books:

Week 5 - Check-ins

Week 5 is about recovering a sense of possibility. Hopefully by now you should be beginning to gain a sense of trust in your inner artist and beginning to see the positive change that it's bringing about for your life. It's very easy to get caught up in the idea of "duty" and to believe that anything worth having is worth working hard for. But maybe sometimes it doesn't have to be as hard as we choose to make it.

Here are some questions to think about this week:

1. Are you self destructive - that is, do you take actions that cause you to destroy parts of yourself?

2. What are you not allowing yourself to do? What's the worst that could happen if you did allow it?

3. What do you have to gain by not allowing yourself to have fun?

4. What has your younger self and your older self told you that came as a surprise?

Week 4 - Check-ins

This week you'll be tackling Chapter 4 - Recovering a Sense of Integrity. You may have started experiencing a lot of change in your everyday life - things that you thought we okay before might have suddenly become intolerable. You may find that you're speaking your mind more than you used to - all signs that you're well on your way to finding out who you want to be. You'll have also been asked not to read this week . . . seems intolerable, doesn't it?

Once again you will have been asked to list things that you like or that sound like fun. Here's some questions you might like to think about:

1. How do you get from "That sounds like fun." to actually doing it?
2. How did you do on the reading ban? When did you struggle with it the most?
3. What did you find yourself doing when you weren't supposed to be reading?
4. Were you able to carry out an extended artist's date? If not, why not?

Once again. some new books at the library that might help your journey:

Week 3 - check-ins

Sorry for posting this so late - you've al probably flown through Week 3 by now! But if not, here's a few things to think about:

1. Have you had trouble remembering things from your childhood? Why do you think that is?
2. Have you been able to idntify some of the habits that hold you back? Have you seen them in others?
3. Were you able to get in touch with a supportive friend? How did that go?
4. Have you seen any patterns in the friends you choose, or in the people you're interested in? Why do you think they mean?

Here's some new books at the library that might inspire you:
